Celebration of 69th Republic Day of India

Embassy of India in Tajikistan celebrated the 69th Republic Day of India on 26th January 2018 at Indian Cultural Centre, Dushanbe. Ambassador Shri Somnath Ghosh unfurled the national flag at the Embassy premises in the morning and read out Hon’ble President’s address to the nation on the eve of the Republic Day.  This was followed by a short cultural programme by the students of Indian Cultural Centre, Dushanbe. About 150 members of Indian community and Tajik friends of India attended the ceremony.

In the evening Ambassador hosted a reception which was attended by representatives of various Ministries and Agencies of Government of Tajikistan, academicians, diplomatic community and members of Indian community in Tajikistan. H.E.  Mr. Sirodjiddin Aslov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan was the Chief Guest. More than 200 people attended the reception. Ambassador addressed the gathering and gave an overview of some of the recent achievements of India. He also touched upon bilateral relations and said that new facets are being added to the cooperation between the two countries. Tajik Foreign Minister extended congratulations on behalf of the government of Tajikistan and said that India-Tajikistan relations go back to several centuries in history. He said that the relations between the two countries have been expanding and are poised to strengthen further in the years to come. He highly appreciated India’s role in addressing socio-political and economic issues in Afghanistan.
